Black cardstock is often hard to find uses for unless you are using it for matting or a background. Then when you are rubberstamping, it is almost impossible.
While black may not be one of your first picks in colors, I’ve got a few idea that might change that.
1. Painting – Put a light coat of paint on a rubber stamp, stamp image and clean immediately.
2. Bleaching – I have found it easier to add bleach to a sponge, or use the bleach pen. The sponge will act as a stamp pad, and the pen, you can add it directly to the stamp. Make sure you rinse your stamp clean afterwards.
3. Heat Embossing – Stamp your image with clear embossing ink and heat emboss with clear, or any other color embossing powder. You can leave it as is, or color it in with chalks. For a deeper color, add several layers. This effect almost looks like a faux suede look.
4. Versa Mark – This can be used several ways. By itself, it looks like a watermark. If you desire a little more color, you can cover your image, while still tacky, with gold leaf or Pearl Ex powders. Versa Mark can also be used in heat embossing.
5. Crystal Effects – Also known as Crystal Lacquer. Try this product for a 3-D effect on any of the above projects. Outline the rubber stamped image with Crystal Effects and the image will be raised and more noticeable.
6. Stamp Pads – There are tons of different brands/types out there. There will some colors that will show up on dark cardstock like white, yellow, even some iridescent.
Most of all have fun and experiment with what you have. You never know what might work till you try it out.
