If you've ever changed coffee makers and found yourself with a bunch of unused filters, here's a great idea for you. Turn them into altered albums! I've used the cone shaped filters for this book and papered the pages, but you could easily stamp, or paint on the filters themselves or even tea dye them and let the filters show.
There are as many ways to bind your album as there are themes to use for an album. For this one, I chose to go a simple route and punch holes, use eyelets and ribbon. I used 5 filters for this album and chose a Sock Hop theme to scrap my Girl Scout troop's fun at a dance put on by another troop.
Here is the front cover showing the title made with an "S" cut from patterned paper (unknown), white rub ons from TLC, and chipboard letter "h" from TLC covered in patterned paper by SIAS. Flower accent from TLC, sunglasses and saddle shoe stickers from Stickopotamus, Memories ticket sticker from Club Scrap. Pink Wrinkle pattern paper (background) from TLC, Ink from Ancient Page (coal black), assorted scrap ribbons (unknown).
This image is of the fronts of the tags in the cover pocket. They are actually titles cut from a TLC kit and I added eyelets and fibers to them.
Here are the first 2 pages of my book. Black and Pink Argyle paper by TLC, Ink from Ancient Page, Scrap ribbon (unknown), dice and pennant stickers from Stickopotamus, "together" sticker from Bo-Bunny Press (white shabby random thoughts sticker), white phrase stickers (and dots) from Me&My Big Ideas (friends slang). Fibers on tags from Fibers By The Yard.
This is just a closer image of page 2 and the tag that's in it's pocket. Tag uses patterned paper by Provo Craft (Purse-onality, Rob and bob studio). Sunglass sticker from Stickopotamus.
Pages 3 and 4 show Pink Wrinkle paper (TLC), Pink polka dot paper (SIAS), Flower accent (TLC), Scrap ribbon (unknown), De-fined sticker from Making Memories (Friendship), Jukebox and record sticker (Stickopotamus), white phrase stickers and dots (Me and my big ideas), ink from Ancient Page. Back of tag from page 2 has black polka dot paper (SIAS), Comb and saddleshoe stickers (Stickopotamus), Bliss sticker from JoAnn's Scrap Essentials (Spring). Tag for page 4 pocket is an altered playing card covered in Pink Argyle paper (TLC) with a large ticket sticker (Club Scrap), dice stickers from Stickopotamus.
Pages 5 and 6 show black argyle paper (TLC) Pink polka dot paper (SIAS) scrap ribbon (unknown) , 50's themed stickers from Stickopotamus, white phrase stickers from Me and My Big Ideas, tags using papers from Provo Craft. Ink from Ancient Page.
Pages 7 and 8 show Pink argyle paper (TLC) , black polka dot paper (SIAS) , De-fined stickers (Making Memories) , white/clear word stickers (Bo-Bunny Press). Both tags from these pockets are altered playing cards covered with SIAS and TLC papers and using 50's stickers (Stickopotamus), Ticket sticker (Club Scrap), White/clear word sticker (Bo-Bunny Press). Ancient Page Ink. Scrap ric rac (unknown).
Here is my back cover and backside of last tag made by altering a playing card. Pink Wrinkle paper (TLC), Black argyle paper (TLC), Flower accents (TLC), 50's stickers (Stickopotamus), Ancient Page ink, Scrap ribbons (unknown).
I hope this project has inspired you to try something a little different. This was a pretty quick little book to put together and could be done in any theme you can imagine. A good friend pointed out to me after I'd shared this with her that I could have turned the book around and the filters themselves would have been the same shape as a Poodle Skirt... ahh, hindsight! I may just have to make another now and make it skirt shaped!
