Most people would agree that red eye detracts from your pictures. If you search the internet for red eye removal tutorials, you’ll find a bunch out there. It’s a bit overwhelming. Some are easy, and some are complicated. But removing red eye is actually fairly easy- there is no need to get all complicated with the tutorial.
First- open a picture with red eye.
Next, make sure that your Layers menu is visible (go to Window>Layers to make it visible, if it isn’t). Make a duplicate layer (Layer>Duplicate Layer). Click on the Channels tab on the Layers menu.

Click on the Green channel. Yes- the image will change to black and white, it’s supposed to. Go to Select>All, and then Edit>Copy.

Click on the Red channel, and then go to Edit>Paste. Click on the RGB channel, and you’ll notice that the red eye is gone. The colors will be all funky looking- don’t worry, we’ll fix that.

Next, go back to the Layers tab on the Layers Menu. Go to Layer>Add Layer Mask>Hide All. The color should be fixed, and the red eye should be back. Don’t worry- we’re fixing that too.
Zoom in on the eyes. Choose the paintbrush tool, and make sure that the selected color is white. Start coloring in the red eye. You’ll notice that the red eye goes away.

Once you’ve colored all the red eye in, go to Layer>Merge Visible (or Layer>Flatten Image).
