I did this paint can for a Paint Can Swap in my local scrapbooking group. We each did a can and filled it with scrapping goodies. Everyone had a great time participating. The theme was summer. These cans are great gift holders for baby showers, birthdays, weddings, etc.
Supplies:
- empty 1 gallon paint can - Home Depot
- Cardstock: Ballet Blue, Kraft, Naturals Ivory from Stampin' Up!®
- Ink - VersaMark, Ballet Blue Classic from Stampin' Up!®
- Adhesive: Making Memories Metal Blue (you can also use a spray adhesive)
- raffia - Micheal's
- rubber stamps - On the Beach, Alphadots from SU!
- mini circle punch from Creative Memories
Directions:
- I stamped each sheet of 8-1/2 x 11 cardstock using the VersaMark pad. I then ripped each one in half.
- I wrapped the cardstock around the can and trimmed as needed. I used the mini circle punch to cut a half circle in the paper so it would go around where the handle is attached. It took some time, but turned out great.
- I then used MM Metal Glue to attach the cardstock. Spray adhesive works great too.
- I then stamped the smaller images and layered those as shown. These were attached with HermaVario Tabs.
- I stamped the Alphadots letter on the natural cardstock and then punched them out using the mini circle punch from CM.
- Punch circles one size up from the mini to layer the letters and attach with Vario Tabs. Popdots would work great too!
- For the lid of the can I measured the top and cut a piece of the same cardstock. Another small image was stamped and attached.
- I finished the can off with some natural raffia tied to the handle. You can also include a paint can opener tied to the handle if the lid has been pushed down completely.
