Open a new image 300x300 pixels, 300dpi, transparent.
Using your preset shapes tool(see image 1) ,set colors for black/red, line size 1, solid line, choose the solid gear shape 5. UNCLICK the boxes for create as a vector and retain style.

Your image should now look something like this (see image 2)

go to Effect>inner bevel Then choose these settings: (see image 3)

on the light colors, play around with different colors to find one you are happy with.You can also play around with the bevel tube and see the many different looks you can use! Don't be afraid to play with any of the settings - you never know what will come out that you really like that no one else has thought of.
Add a drop shadow then any text. I tend to do it on a raw raster layer as that is what works well for me.
