Bottle caps are one of the latest trends in scrapbooking. And luckily, they are also one of the cheapest! Start saving the metal bottle caps from glass bottled drinks and they are perfect for embellishing. Here is an idea combining these free accents with acrylic paint and rub-ons.

Supplies:

Bottle caps (from any glass bottled drink)

Acrylic Paint in 2 colors (used here: “Leaf Green”, Plaid; “Napa Red”, DecoArt)

Simply Stated Rub-ons, Making Memories (“Summer” and “Vacation”)

Instructions:

1. Begin with a basic bottle cap. The color/design does not matter.

2. Paint bottle caps with one color of acrylic paint.

3. Let dry and add another layer of paint (different color).

4. As each layer dries, add to the distressed look by dry brushing additional layers of paint.

5. You can also sand part of the paint away to reveal lower layers of paint or the original metal of the bottle cap.
6. After you are satisfied with the appearance of the bottle cap and all paint is completely dry, add rub-on words or clear word stickers to the top.

• You can use an endless array of items to decorate these bottle caps. Try different creative ideas.
• These particular accents are perfect for holiday scrapbook pages or cards.
• If you add one of these to a card, keep in mind that the extra bulk may call for additional postage. You may also need to make your postmaster aware that the card has metal on it or else it may not arrive at its destination.
