I don’t know about you, but I love finding new techniques to add to my layouts that don’t require a new tool and one I can do without a high learning curve.
The new LICENSE PLATE look is such a fun way to add personality to your summer vacation pages, and it is so so easy! The best thing about these little beauties is I get to use up my scraps!
Let’s get started……
Choose your theme and papers. I like to choose 3 different papers. You can use cardstock or patterned paper or mix and match.
The average size is about 6x3 inches. Cut your top piece first.
Using my Beach plate as an example, my top piece is 5 x 2.5, the second piece is approx 5.5 x 2.75, the third is 6x3. I usually cut my top piece first and just eyeball the rest.
Make the license plate to fit your needs.
Just glue the pieces in their order right on top of each other.
Punching holes – This can be tricky and you can tell by a couple of my plates that my holes are not exactly they way I planned. I used my hole punch. I punched two holes overlapping and then one in the middle. But I was also using my spring loaded punch that was hard to keep in the correct spot. I will use my hammer hole punch next time, and I may try only punching through one layer at a time.
Apply your design to the front. Simplicity is the key. I love to embellish and found it hard not to over decorate. But you all know how I feel about following the rules. Make it your own!!!
