Altered Art
Altered Objects Begging to be Spray Painted!

Altered art is all the rage right now.  Whether it is an altered CD for a friend or a recipe box for you, anything and everything can be altered.

I have been scrapbooking for a little over three years now and the scrap world has changed so much.  Many people I was acquainted with missed the start of the altered art era and the ones who knew about it thought it was a waste of time.  That was then and here we are now, the altered items are flowing like Willie Wonka’s chocolate river; something most of us would like to see more of!

Several of our altered jobs take time.  We paint, sand, weather it; and all the things we do to tweak them to a near perfect creation takes up several sessions we are willing to take.  Spray paint is an item I have learned to use pretty well and enjoy.  My bare items, especially wood projects beg to be spray painted now.

Spray paint is much quicker to dry than regular paint, easy to touch up, and cleaner.  Boxes, trays, frames, monograms, and tables will all have hard to get places that spray paint will easily take care of.  I have an old box folded flat to spray my items on.  The only downside to spray paint is that you have to go outside.   I highly recommend it.  Speaking of high, that is what you will be if you don’t use with caution and in a very well ventilated area.  The upside is there no clean up afterwards. Only to throw your box/paper you sprayed on and gloves, if you wore any. Most of my projects only took one good coat and minor touch ups.  You can spray many surfaces; wood, paper, plastic, glass and metal.  Be sure you look at the type of paint you choose for the surfaces it covers.

Krylon has small cans called, “Hot Shots.”  These cans are just right for smaller jobs and small hands.  I have found it much easier to use these smaller cans rather than the larger one and you are not stuck with a ton of colors you may not use again.  Krylon also makes metallic and iridescent paints.  Whatever your project is, there is paint for it.
