Step-By-Step Instructions:
- Gather envelopes and paper which will be used for the information portion of the invitation. (For the sample, I cut my invitations to fit a standard business envelope for simplicity). The amount of paper and envelopes needed will vary depending on the number of invitations needed. I recommend making a little extra, to be on the safe side.
- Spray one side of the paper and the front side of the envelopes with Walnut Ink. I don’t recommend spraying the back of the envelopes because it’s likely it will moisten the flap and seal prematurely. Set aside and allow these to dry.
- Cut handmade paper to the size desired for the invitation. Again, I cut mine to fit a standard envelope, but the basic design could be used on a variety of sizes.
- On scrap pieces of white cardstock, press a two-toned ink pad (“Gold Blue”) over the area.
- With “Chocolate Brown” ink pad, stamp one fish design for each invitation (again, consider creating an extra or two).
- Press a “Metallic Copper” ink pad over the stamp area for a little more color and sparkle. (Children can assist with all three steps of this stamping process).
- Using small scissors cut out the fish design.
- On a computer, create the text for the invitation using a variety of fonts. I chose fonts that were somewhat rustic to carry out the fishing theme. Size the text so that it will be slightly shorter in width than the invitation, and short enough in height to allow room for an embellishment at the top of the invitation.
- By this point, the walnut ink items should be dry… Print the text onto the walnut ink paper and trim to size.
- With brown chalks, dirty up the edges of the invitation text (Children are very good at this!).
- Cut a piece of jute for each invitation and tie a knot on each end. With a Pop Up Glue Dot, attach the fish design on top of the jute at the top of the invitation.
- Attach the piece of text paper underneath the fish and jute.
- Hand write, print, or stamp addresses on the envelopes.
- Stamp a few fish with brown ink on the envelope fronts (and backs if desired – Kids love stamps!).
