Make Slimey Text with Photoshop CS2

To make drippy, slimey text a handwritten-looking font works best. For my example, I used the font Greg's Hand, by Harold Lohner. You can get it free at www.haroldsfonts.com.
Here's how I "slime" my text using Photoshop CS2.
1. Create a new document, I used the 2x3 size with a transparent background.
2. Select a really gross color for your text. I chose a slimey green color.
2. Click on the text tool (the T in your tool palette) and make sure the font you want to use is showing in the menu bar. Again, I'm using the font Greg's Hand by Harold Lohner.
3. Click on your working file and type your text when the cursor appears.
4. Rasterize the text so you can alter it. From the Menu bar, click on Layer... Rasterize... Type.
5. Now let's add some depth to this slime. In the Layers Palette, right click on the layer and choose Blending Options.
6. In the Blending Options, click on the words Bevel and Emboss and make sure the checkbox next to the words are checked. Apply these settings:
7. Don't close the Blending Options box (if you do, just right click on the layer to open it again). Click to put a check in the box next to Satin and use these settings:
8. Close the Blending options dialog box. From the Menu, click on Filter... Liquify.
9. Click on the first tool at the top left, the Forward Warp Tool, and set the Tool Options like this:

| Settings in the Liquify filter. |
10. With the tool, click on the letters of the text and drag them down to get a melting effect. It might look like this:
 |
| The circle is the brush. |
11. When you get something you like, click OK. Be sure to experiment and get something really unique. While in Liquify, you can click on Reconstruct or Revert to get back to your original; or simply click on Cancel and start again.
12. Add some drop shadows, and you've got slimey text, just in time for Halloween! You can now drag this layer onto your layout or project, or save it as a png file to use it later.
