Pagesoftheheart.net Pockets & Envelopes If you’re anything like me, you’d love to scrapbook all those Valentines that your kids bring home from school, but you’re at a loss as to how to do that. Well, I’ve come up with a couple of solutions! One is really simple, and the other has a bit more detail, but both allow you to keep the Valentines forever, without manipulating them!
This page was made by using several Karen Foster Valentine patterned papers. I cut the papers into 4”x4” squares, then tore the edges off of each square, crumpled them then smoothed them out. I then used Modge Podge to glue the pieces to a white 12”x12” piece of cardstock, in various ways, until the whole page was covered. I allowed this to dry overnight. Then, I had a few squares leftover, so I tore them all on half and sewed them to the background page, leaving the tops open to create pouches. (Please note that when hand-stitching on paper, it is always easier to use a paper piercer to poke the holes before you use you needle.) The title was created by using an alphabet template and a red heart eyelet. I attached them to a white piece of cardstock, tore the edges then chalked the torn edges.
This page is much quicker, but just as nice. If you don’t have 2-sided patterned paper or cardstock, you can do what I did and glue 2 pieces together, back to back. The pieces I used were cut to about 10”x12”. The easiest way to fold the corners in is to do them at the same time, so you can tell for sure they’re even. I left a tiny space between the 2 edges, but you can make them join completely, too. Next, I set eyelets along both edges, then laced paper ribbon though the eyelets. Then I attached the patterned paper to the black cardstock, making sure that the point was even with the bottom of the page. I then punched some hearts from pink cardstock and glued them to the black cardstock. This page is great for odd-sized Valentines, as the pocket varies in depth on its own.
