Finished Frame

While perusing my local thrift shop I found a great little frame on a metal stand... it called out to me. It was stained a dark green with a black wrought iron type stand. It was a little banged up, but nothing too terrible so I brought it home and decided to alter it. Any theme would lend to an altered frame, I happened to choose Easter for this one. If you're like me and still don't have your Easter pictures scrapped (or even printed), this might lend some inspiration.

This is the finished frame, I forgot to take a picture of the frame before I started. I guess I was just too anxious to start.

What I did to create this frame was to measure the outside and inside dimensions. Once I chose my paper, I measured the paper and cut a square the same size as my frame. I chose to use 2 papers to cover my frame, so measured and cut 2 squares. Once the squares were cut, I laid my frame on top of each square in turn and traced the inner opening of my frame. Once traced on each square, I drew an X from corner to corner in each inner square. Once traced, I cut along the X only on each square.

Inner Cut

Once the X's were cut, I folded them back to open the center up.

Once opened, I adhered one square to the surface of my frame and tore the second square in half, then overlapped and adhered that to the surface of the frame as well.

I then adhered the inner cut sections to the inside of the frame and decorated the frame surface with scrap ribbons and elements from an Easter Page kit. I also inked the edges of my frame in green to match the uncovered stained edges of the original frame. This was a quick and easy altered object to create and can be created in any them imaginable.
