Altered Canvas

It's funny how some projects just take on a life of their own. This particular one had me excited at first, then confused, a bit stressed after that, then it all of a sudden came together practically on its own. The idea of altering a canvas for a wall was an exciting one for me at first.. so many possibilities and ways to be creative. The more I thought about it, the more daunting the task became however. I started to wonder what on earth I was going to do with it, where it would go, what I would put on it. That led to the stress. I was sure I couldn't figure out a way of doing it justice and coming up with something I'd be proud to share with you all here. Then Father's Day started creeping up on me amidst ballet recitals, school finals, etc. I was pressed for something to give to my husband, who is a difficult one to give gifts to anyway, and an idea came to me. Actually some inspiration from a dear friend came to me in the form of an altered canvas she created for her Daughter and SIL's anniversary. Suddenly, the pictures popped into my head and colors started to come together and a gift project was born. I discussed my plan with my children and we came to an agreement that it would be a great thing for him to have in his office, a way of taking his family with him to work, without the hassle of having 4 kids in his tiny office!

Supplies used:
8x10 blank canvas board
Acrylic paints : Apple Barrel Burnt Umber, Caribbean, and Pear were used for this project
Foam paint brushes in varying widths
Green Mosaic tiles (unknown, from swap)
Glue Dots
Charm (unknown, from swap)
Black/tan Gingham ribbon: JoAnn's etc.
Family ribbon slide: Miss E.
MM defined definition CS sticker
Rub On, unknown

Here is the canvas with the paint drying. This process only took a matter of minutes since the coats were thin and acrylics dry quickly.
