Patriotic Photo Mat

Supplies:

Red, Blue and White Cardstock

Fibers

Charm or other embellishments

Adhesive

Instructions:

Cut your white cardstock 6 ¾ ” x 4 ¾ ”, blue cardstock 6 ½ ” x 4 ½ ” and your red cardstock 6 ¼ ” x 4 ¼ ”.

Attach your red cardstock to the blue, then the blue cardstock to the white. Tear the bottom edge of the mat, tearing through all three layers of cardstock.

Cut a piece of white and blue cardstock 1 ¼” x 6 ¾”. Adhere the blue cardstock to the white and tear top and bottom edges. Attach to the bottom of the photo mat.

Cut a length of fiber long enough to wrap around the photo mat twice. Wrap fiber around mat, leaving the cut edges available to thread through the charm. Bring both cut ends to the front of the mat, thread fiber through charm and tie. Put a glue dot on the back of the charm and attach to the mat. Cut fiber so both ends are even.

Some other ideas for embellishing the photo mat are old stamps. Use Undo to get flag stamps off of old envelopes and mat onto cardstock, then using them as embellishments for photo mats, deco squares, or slide mounts. Star eyelets or brads would also work as an embellishment if you do not have a star charm.

This mat could be used either vertically or horizontally on a LO.
