| 12x12 layout - Photo mat lifts to reveal journaling & more pictures. |
Supplies:
Purple paper: Colorbok
Block patterned paper: “Colour Blocks”, Francoise Collection, Paper Adventures
Red & green patterned paper: Slab II, Provo Craft
Pop-Up Glue Dots
Title font: Snap ITC
Light blue paper (unknown)
Journaling font: Perpetua
To create photo mat:
1. Cut red paper so that it provides a mat 1 ½” wide around the photo. However, leave an additional ½” on the top portion (for a total of 2” on top).
2. Score a horizontal fold ½” from the top of the red paper and fold it toward the back of the photo mat.
3. Mat photo with purple paper (a thin 1/8” mat is sufficient) and attach to the center of the red paper.
4. Create a frame from purple paper that is 1” thick, by cutting the paper to 2 ½” taller and wider than the focal point photo.
5. On the back, measure and mark lines that are 1” from each edge.
6. Cut out the center to create a frame.
7. Attach frame to red paper, around photograph.
8. Cut a strip of blocks from patterned paper.
9. Cut out individual blocks from strip.
10. Attach blocks on the purple frame. Use pop dots on some to add dimension.
To Complete Layout:
1. Print title in color onto green patterned paper. I used WordArt in Microsoft Word to get a fun fill effect. The title should be about 1 ¾” tall.
2. Trim title and mat with red paper.
3. Attach to the top of the layout.
4. Attach the small flap at the top of the photo mat to the layout so that the photo can be lifted up.
5. Crop two photos and mat them with purple paper.
6. Attach these smaller photos to the bottom of the layout at an angle.
7. Allow part of the photo to hang off of the edge of the layout and trim to create a straight edge again.
8. Print journaling on light blue paper. The sheet of blue paper should be the same size as the large photo mat.
9. Flip up the photo mat and attach journaling block to the layout so that it will be completely hidden when the photo mat is closed.
10. Add a small cropped photo to the bottom right area of the journaling block.
11. Add three additional cropped and matted photos to the upper portion of the flap.
