Resize your photos in PSP

To resize an image in PSP, I use the following steps. (Please note not everyone agrees on how to’s, but this is my method and so far it’s worked well for me).
Open Paint Shop Pro -
Open the picture you want to work with (Select: File, Open, and browse to its location). You may turn on your rulers if it makes it easier for you. (Go to: view, rulers). These will show you the height and width of your picture.
Go to: View, Normal Viewing {1:1} Using this, you see the actual size of your photo on your computer screen. (You may also check it by going to: Image, Canvas Size)
Now, to resize the photo, go to: Image, Resize
You have several choices on how to resize a photo—exact pixels, percentages, or print size. I normally use percentages. When increasing, I go by 110 percent increments and if downsizing, I go by 80 percent increments. (You may use whatever method is suitable for your needs.) To resize using percentage increments, select the Percentage of Ratio button and type in the percentage you are going to use. Remember, there is an UNDO button, so if you are not happy with it you can change it back. I normally make sure that both the height and width ratio are the same but here again its all in the look your are trying to achieve.
If you are working with only the individual photo, check the box that says "Resize All Layers". If you are working in a layout that has other pictures or a background, make sure you leave that box UNCHECKED so you only resize the photo you are working with. Check the box to maintain the ratio aspect so that your photo does not become distorted. (Use the default setting as its usually correct).
There are several theories on the resize type and this is just the one that I use…again this is individual preference, but its proven to work well in most cases for my needs…I keep mine on "BICUBIC RESAMPLE" as that seems to be what’s worked best at keeping my photos in the manner they were taken. Some people do prefer to use SMART SIZE and let PSP decide but I have found that it’s not the way I want my photos to look. After checking with several other programs, most of them used the bicubic method. I was much happier with the results. Again it’s all to your own tastes. Your scrapping pages are your creations and you should be happiest with them done your way, not how someone else says they should look!
Now click on OK. If needed, go up and View, Normal Viewing until you are happy with it.
