Taking Great Holiday Pictures

Great Christmas pictures don't have to be a hassel. Just remember that "every picture is a portrait". Always take pictures with this in mind. When you do, even your snapshots will look great. Some of the greatest pictures I have of my children are when I was just taking snapshots. Those are the pictures that I really cherish. I love capturing their personalities.

Don't be so worried aobut posed shots. Take pictures of family and friends doing what they best. In the years to come, you will cherish those moments you captured. Take pictures of the decorations, the food, all the little details that time will forget.

If you want a posed shot of the family, look for some great available light. Light through a window, even lighting underneath a carport, or a tree always makes great pictures. Check for shadows (use flash if you see them, or move your subjects), check for tree;s and limbs growing out of the top of people's heads. Look at your background, does it look distracting, or is a nice back ground for your pictures. All the little details will make for a great a picture. Also, make a list of the shots you would like to get and where...if you want the around the tree...write it down a paper, because with all the excitement you may forget.

Don't forget to have your camera ready for that "element of surprise", those are the best shots.  Just keep your camera close by, and don't forget to ask someone to take a picture with you in it!!

Merry Christmas...Happy Holidays
