Have you ever stopped to think about how important music is in our lives? It’s everywhere. The grocery store, restaurants, doctors’ offices, elevators – everyday you are surrounded by it. Throughout history, music has played an important role in many cultures. In ancient Greece, gods and goddesses were often linked to certain instruments and music in general was thought to exert great power over people. In America the debate rages about how music and musical lyrics influence our youth. Good or bad, music is an important part of our lives. We sing lullabies to our babies to calm them, we use songs to teach our children their ABC’s, and we have that special song that we danced to with our spouses at our weddings. Even advertisers use catchy jingles to catch our attention and lure us to their product.
Seeing how music plays such a strong role in our everyday life, it’s only natural it should also play a role in our scrapping. You can use the lyrics of a song to evoke a certain emotion on your page. When my son had eye surgery late last summer, I was a bundle of emotions that I couldn’t quite express in my own words. Needing to express these emotions creatively, I created a page using lyrics from a song that I felt captured exactly what I was feeling.

Maybe you are at loss for a title for your page. Why not use the title of a popular song? I used the title “Sealed with a Kiss”, a song by Shelley Fabares to create a layout using various photos of my husband and I kissing on our wedding dat. Look through the gallery, there are many examples of musical lyrics and song titles in layouts. Here are just a few.

So, let’s get singing. If you a hear a song that you think…”hmm, this reminds me of…” well, then scrap it!!
