Make a Brush from a PNG File with Photoshop CS

1. Open the png file you want to use to make a brush.

2. From the menu bar, click on Select> Load Selection.


An animated dotted line (looks like “marching ants”) will appear around the selection.


3. From the menu bar, click on Edit> Define Brush Preset.


4. A pop-up window will open, prompting you to name the brush. Click in the text field and type to name your brush. Click OK.



5. Click on the brush tool in the Tools palette.


6. If you don’t see your new brush under the Menu Bar, click on the down arrow by the current brush under the Menu bar. Scroll down to the bottom of the list; you will see your brush there. Click on it to select it and use this brush to work with.
