Weekly Sketch #11
By Christine Smith
Mar 13, 2005, 11:12
This week's sketch is fairly a unique combination of a circle and rectangle. You may notice tat the rectangle under the circle extends all the way to the edge of the card. This technique is borrowed from the graphic arts style popular right now in scrapbooking. This modern design is fun to work with for just about any style as evidenced by the great art created by this week’s sketch artists.
I pleased to present seven exciting samples by the following artists:
- Paper Scrapbooking Design Team Member Shelley Wagner (shelleybme)
- Rubber Stamping Design Team Member Rebekah Parker (inkybrain)
- Paper Scrapbooking Design Team Member Lisa Haas (Sassette)
- Rubber Stamping Design Team Member Lianne Vigil (liannallama)
- Rubber Stamping Design Team Member Kim Harris (KimHarris)

Spring is in this with this card by Shelley. She has used a bright, delightful color combination as has nicely chosen a gold metal-edge tag for the circle portion of the card. The circle tag is the perfect place for a nice sentiment.

Rebekah shows her skill in combining bright colors in this fun card. She has a nice repetition of the flowers in the yellow rectangle, the background and the circle. The sentiment is cleverly placed at the bottom of the yellow rectangle.

Here’s a fun and playful variation on the sketch by Lisa. Instead of the circle, she has used an adorable punch art Leprechaun complete with wiggle eyes! The edge of the rectangle is torn and the sentiment is created with stickers and handwriting. The theme is completed with a matted row of shamrock buttons. Fun!

The mosaic that Lisa created here is a stunning way to fill in that rectangle! The rose image was cut from a desktop calendar. The brads in the squares below the rose help reinforce the circle holding the sentiment. The circle and the green squares are mounted with pop-dots for dimension

Pages of the Heart is celebrating its second birthday and here is a wonderful and creative card for this or any birthday. Lisa has replaced the circle portion of the sketch with a balloon and has mounted it with a pop dot for dimension. A piece of ribbon helps repeat the balloon theme that is on the patterned paper.
