Don't try to hide it. You, my dear friend, are addicted to scrapbooking.
Your family, your friends -- they all know. They think you are nuts when you
do little things like buying more supplies you don't really need. Imagine how
they would react if they knew everything you did?
So, how do you know when you are addicted to scrapbooking? My
response: who cares! But let's have some fun and find out just how other
scrappers would answer that question. Then we will know, once and for all,
if you are alone or not, in your addiction.
You Know You're Addicted To Scrapbooking When...
...they know you by name at the scrapbook store
...you dream of visions of patterned paper and embellishments dancing in
your head (Stacy Lyman, Mountain Pass, CA)
...every interest you love and everyone you love has its own album (Stacy
Lyman, Mountain Pass, CA)
...you stage photos of your children...like having them with a giant Easter
Bunny, in November, just to finish off a gift album or calendar (Danielle,
Vermont)
...you put together coordinated page kits, before you have the photos to
use for them (Danielle, Vermont)
...you are known in the community as "the scrapbook lady"! (Danielle,
Vermont)
...you have pizza five nights in a row because you are too busy scrapping
to cook (Tracey, Pages of the Heart Design Team Member)
...you cry when your kids use the last of your adhesives on their homework
(Tracey, Pages of the Heart Design Team Member)
...you get up to feed the baby, and find yourself sitting down to scrap when
baby goes back to sleep (Tracey, Pages of the Heart Design Team Member)
...you send your kids to school with a disposable camera, with instructions
for the teacher to take pictures of everything, and to call you when the
camera needs to be replaced (Tracey, Pages of the Heart Design Team
Member)
...you purchase clothing to match the future scrapbook layouts that you
have in mind for a trip to Disneyland (Cristina Duran, Victorville, CA)
...every photo you take is posed, so it will make a good page (Jacque,
Pages of the Heart Design Team Member)
...you dress your kids to coordinate with paper that you have, so that you
can use it up (Jacque, Pages of the Heart Design Team Member)
...your husband starts having dreams about your supplies (Julie, Hesperia, CA)
...when you PLAN a trip and are already envisioning titles and layouts for
the pages (Inger, Hesperia, CA)
...You ask the dentist if you can have the spit napkin from your 3.5 year
old son’s first dentist cleaning because it would look nice as the
background paper for your “First Dentist Trip” layout, especially with the
photos you took with the Polaroid camera they loaned you because your
digital wasn’t done charging yet (Kerri Russ, Portland, Oregon)
...you've got more money saved up for the lss annual sidewalk sale than
you do for this week's groceries (Lissa, Pages of the Heart Design Team
Member)
...you dream in scrapbook instead of life (Lissa, Pages of the Heart
Design Team Member)
...you look for scrapbook embellishments every where you go (Lissa,
Pages of the Heart Design Team Member)
...you snag tiny toys and miniature things from children at yard sales (Lissa,
Pages of the Heart Design Team Member)
...you want to go to Mardi Gras just because you saw the most amazing
paper and know it would be perfect for Mardi Gras pictures (Lissa, Pages
of the Heart Design Team Member)
...You find the coolest scrapbook paper - perfect for papering your bathroom /
bedroom / kitchen / scraproom (Lissa, Pages of the Heart Design Team
Member)
...you embellish everything, your purse, your sweaters, your kitchen (Lissa,
Pages of the Heart Design Team Member)
...you can't wait for one of your children to leave home so you can have an
entire room to scrap in (Lissa, Pages of the Heart Design Team Member)
...you decided your holiday guests can eat on the floor in the den picnic
style because your scrapping stuff is too important to move off the dining
room table! (Lissa, Pages of the Heart Design Team Member)
...you'll buy that Bazzil before you buy the notebook paper your 8th grader
desperately needs! (Lissa, Pages of the Heart Design Team Member)
...you get mad when your dh makes his lunch and uses your swap zipolock baggies instead of regular sandwich baggies. (Lissa, Pages of the Heart
Design Team Member)
...your dinner table talk is centered around your on line scrapping friends
and no one anybody in your house has ever seen or heard of before!
(Lissa, Pages of the Heart Design Team Member)
...you go nowhere (including shopping) without a camera handy -- you
never know what you'll miss! (Lissa, Pages of the Heart Design Team
Member)
...your film developing bill is higher than your grocery bill (Lissa, Pages of
the Heart Design Team Member)
....you figure your monthly budget, your scrapping budget is higher than
your phone bill (Lissa, Pages of the Heart Design Team Member)
...when you attend all-night crops from 8pm-8am (Danielle, Victorville, CA)
...you take photos to go with a page layout I have already made (Joyce,
Monroe, NC)
So there you have it -- just a small sampling of what makes some of us
"addicted scrappers". I'm sure we could go on and on with this list. If you
are addicted to scrapbooking, don't worry -- this is one addiction that is very
healthy for you and your memories -- no matter what your non-scrapping
friends say!
