We all have things we love -- some may be fairly obvious, others may be
silly or strange -- but creating a page to document the current things you
love is one of the best ways to share yourself with future generations.
In this tutorial, I have given the steps for creating the actual layout,
along with the details for creating the tag that is used in this layout.
Supplies:
Two sheets light brown cardstock (12x12)
One sheet dusty pink cardstock (12x12)
One sheet pattern paper that coordinates with cardstock (12x12 - I used PSX Designs "Lost Love")
Four silver brads (I used Creative Imaginations)
"Love" sticker (I used Wordz by Danelle Johnson, Creative Imaginations)
Pink embroidery floss
Drywall tape or white mesh
Computer & Printer
MA Sexy font
Layout Instructions:
1. Tear a piece of pink cardstock that measures approximately 5 1/2" tall by 12" wide.
The tearing should be on both of the 12" sides. Adhere somewhat in the middle of the
brown cardstock.
2. Cut a 1/2" x 12" piece of the pattern paper. Apply 2 1/2" down from top of brown cardstock.
3. Add a 1/2" x 12" piece of mesh to the very top and the very bottom of the brown cardstock.
4. Cut a 1 1/2" x 12" piece of the pattern paper. Apply to the brown cardstock, between the
the bottom mesh and the torn pink cardstock.
5. With the brown cardstock, cut a rectangle 4 1/2" x 6" photo mat. This will mat a 4" x 6" photo.
If you will be using a larger photo, adjust accordingingly. Adhere photo to mat and attach to
the left side of the pink cardstock.
6. Attach two brads to the very right of the 1 1/2" x 12" piece of pattern paper. Also attach
one brad to the very left of the 1/2" x 12" piece of pattern paper.
7. Glue title "Things I" (see instructions for creating handcut title below) to the top of
the layout, starting placement at the left.
8. Adhere "Love" tag (see instructions for creating tag below) at the top of the layout, next
to the "Things I" title.
9. Hand or computer journal things that you love. I used my computer for the journaling and
printed it on the pattern paper. Tear around edges of journaling. Adhere next to the
photo, on the right hand side of the pink cardstock on the layout.
Love Tag Instructions:
1. Cut a tag shape from brown cardstock that measures 2 1/2" x 3 1/4".
2. Add a piece of the pattern paper, with one side torn, on the top right corner and
the bottom left corner. Turn tag over and trim excess pattern paper.
3. Add a piece of mesh diagonally across tag. Turn tag over and trim excess pattern paper.
4. Cover a slide mount with the pink cardstock. If you don't have a slide mount, follow the
instructions for creating a faux slide mount here.
5. Cut two 6" pieces of pink embroidery floss. Loop one piece of floss on the left side of the
slide window and loop the other piece of floss on the right side of the slide window.
6. Place a piece of pattern paper behind the slide mount opening so that the pattern shows
through the opening. Add "love" sticker in the window, on the pattern paper.
7. Mat entire tag on pink cardstock.
8. Adhere slide mount to the middle of the tag. Bring floss over each side of the tag and
secure on the backside of the tag.
9. Attach a brad near the top center of the tag.
